Uganda Unites to Tackle Illegal Gaming and Promote Responsible Practices
The National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (LGRB) and the Uganda Police Force have joined forces to intensify efforts against illegal gaming in Uganda. The alliance, solidified during a meeting in Kampala, aims to foster responsible gaming practices and protect vulnerable communities.
Collaborative Meeting in Kampala
A pivotal meeting at the Kabira Country Club in Kampala brought together key stakeholders, including LGRB CEO Denis Mudene and senior Uganda Police officials such as CP Ecega Richard and ACP Kituuma Rusoke. The discussions centered on strategies to tackle illegal gaming and safeguard communities from its adverse effects. The collaboration highlights the urgency of addressing unregulated gaming, which poses significant risks, especially to vulnerable groups like minors.
The partnership outlined several initiatives to counter illegal gaming. These include raising public awareness about the dangers of unregulated gambling and implementing targeted campaigns to educate minors and other vulnerable groups. Additionally, the LGRB and Uganda Police pledged to enhance protective measures and collaborate closely to eliminate illegal gaming operations across the country.

The initiative has garnered support from the community, emphasizing the importance of creating safe environments free from the risks associated with illegal gaming. Stakeholders agree that these efforts will contribute to fostering a more responsible gaming culture and supporting Uganda’s broader economic and social development goals.
