First Winners Emerge in Uganda’s Record-Breaking LOTTO Draw

ITHUBA Uganda, the official operator of the Uganda National Lottery, has announced the first two winners from the LOTTO jackpot draw held on August 3, 2024. The jackpot, which totaled UGX 1 billion, has drawn significant public attention as winners begin to claim their prizes.

Samuel Mbonimpa, a 30-year-old mason from Kyazanga in the Lwengo District, and Zeverio Namisi, a 27-year-old factory worker from Kawempe, are the first to step forward. Mbonimpa participated in the LOTTO draw 17 using the USSD code *278#, earning a share of the Division 5 prize, which amounts to UGX 932,340,000. This prize is shared among five winners who matched four out of the six winning numbers. Namisi, who placed a UGX 9,000 wager at a Kenkom shop, won over UGX 186 million.

Company’s Statement

Michelle Van Trotsenburg, Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs at ITHUBA Uganda, commented on the winners’ success, stating, “We are delighted to celebrate this life-changing moment with the winners of Uganda’s largest LOTTO jackpot.”

ITHUBA Uganda is urging the remaining three jackpot winners to come forward and claim their prizes. Winners can validate their tickets at any registered retailer or the location where they purchased them. For those who played via USSD or the official website, ticket validation can be done online.

The announcement of these winners highlights the growing participation in Uganda’s national lottery and its impact on the lives of ordinary participants.
