SportPesa has signed a three-year partnership as the official online betting partner of Varsity Football in South Africa. The agreement makes the company a category-exclusive sponsor and signals a growing commercial interest in university-level sports, particularly the expanding women’s game.

SportPesa Joins as Headline Sponsor

SportPesa now joins existing long-term sponsors FNB, Suzuki, and Cashbuild in supporting Varsity Football. The competition is known for showcasing emerging talent from leading universities across South Africa. As headline partner, SportPesa is expected to contribute to the visibility and development of the sport. Lisa Roux, Sponsorship Manager at ASEM Varsity Sports, said:

“Varsity Sports has become synonymous with high-energy, youth-driven sporting excellence, and we are happy to welcome SportPesa into our family of partners. This partnership is a testament to our shared belief in the power of sport to inspire, transform, and uplift.”

Supporting the Next Generation of Athletes

Varsity Sports continues to serve as a platform for young athletes to gain national exposure. Many current professional players started their careers on this stage, and the tournament maintains its aim of connecting campuses and communities through sport.

SportPesa’s involvement is intended to enhance that mission. Gareth Rosslee, Head of Marketing at SportPesa, said:

“SportPesa is excited to be part of the Varsity Football journey. We see immense potential in university sports and are particularly proud to help fuel the growth of the women’s game. Together, we look forward to celebrating the passion, skill, and future of South African football.”
