The Limpopo Gambling Board has initiated campaigns to promote responsible gambling through direct engagement with customers at licensed venues. The regulator recently staged an outreach activity at Bettabets Moratiwa during Spring Day celebrations on September 1, 2025. Additionally, this demonstrates the board’s commitment to creating safe and sustainable gaming environments throughout the province.

Educational Campaigns Target High-Visibility Betting Locations

The LGB has conducted visits to several licensed betting establishments including Thaba Moshte, BetSA Burgersfort, and Betfred Burgersfort. These initiatives involve setting up temporary information centers within betting shops. Furthermore, staff members provide designated areas where customers can seek guidance about responsible gaming practices.

During these visits, LGB personnel actively interact with players and address gambling-related concerns. Moreover, they offer personalized guidance on managing gaming activities effectively. Educational materials including brochures and posters are distributed to enhance awareness. Consequently, these materials highlight the importance of responsible gambling and associated risks.

Enforcement Actions Complement Community Outreach Efforts

The primary objective involves establishing environments where players feel comfortable discussing gambling concerns without judgment. The LGB encourages open dialogue to promote healthier betting practices and emphasize moderation. Meanwhile, the board also pursues enforcement initiatives against unlicensed gambling activities across the province.

In July 2025, the LGB seized and demolished several hundred illegal gambling machines from unlicensed premises. These enforcement actions protect players from unregulated games and secure revenue for licensed operators. The combined approach of education and enforcement reinforces regulatory standards while promoting safer gaming practices throughout Limpopo.
