Employees Arrested in Nigeria After ₦300 Million Theft Tied to Sports Betting
Nigerian authorities have arrested two employees accused of stealing ₦300 million from their workplace and spending the funds on sports betting. The case has raised fresh concerns about the growing impact of gambling-related financial misconduct among young adults in the country.

Police Arrest Two Suspects in Ogun State
Tomisin, aged 35, and Yaya, aged 23, worked at a lifestyle and hospitality company. According to the police, both men redirected company funds into their personal bank accounts. Officers arrested them in Ogun State after a short investigation.
Authorities reported that the stolen money was used almost entirely for gambling. So far, efforts to recover the funds have failed.
“They stole the money from their company and used that huge amount for gambling,” police officer said.
Officers Warn Against Excessive Betting
Police are using this case to warn young Nigerians about the risks of gambling.
“We want to use this case to speak to our young ones and those who are heavily involved in betting,” said the officer.
