Betting operator Betika has secured official sponsorship rights for the CECAFA Kagame Cup 2025/26 through a $325,000 investment targeting football development across 12 East and Central African nations. The tournament will take place in Tanzania from September 2 to 15, featuring teams from countries including Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Ethiopia, and Sudan.

Regional Football Development Receives Major Investment

The sponsorship agreement was announced on August 28 at Pan Pacific Suites in Nairobi, with Betika Group CEO Mutua Mutava confirming the financial commitment. Mutava described the sponsorship as more than a commercial arrangement, stating it represents belief in football’s power to unite, inspire, and transform communities. The Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations tournament brings together clubs from Burundi, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zanzibar.

CECAFA Vice President Paulos Andemariam signed the partnership agreement alongside Mutava and welcomed the collaboration between football and private sector investment. The sponsorship provides Betika with premium exposure across CECAFA platforms, including in-stadium branding opportunities and digital marketing campaigns designed to reach millions of regional football fans.

Tournament Structure Supports 12-Nation Competition

The CECAFA Kagame Cup represents one of East Africa’s most significant regional football competitions, providing participating clubs with international exposure and competitive experience. Tanzania will host the tournament across multiple venues during the two-week championship period. The investment aims to enhance competition quality while expanding fan engagement opportunities throughout the participating countries.

Andemariam emphasized that the partnership demonstrates confidence in CECAFA competitions’ value and potential for growth. The sponsorship arrangement positions Betika as a key supporter of regional football development while providing the betting operator with extensive marketing reach across East and Central African markets. The tournament serves as a platform for emerging football talent while strengthening sporting connections between participating nations.
