As World Mental Health Day approaches, betPawa contributes essential items to Jinja Referral Hospital in Uganda, enhancing the care provided at the facility’s mental health unit.

betPawa’s Donation to Mental Health Unit

In preparation for the upcoming World Mental Health Day, betting brand betPawa has extended support worth UGX 17.9 million to Jinja Referral Hospital’s mental health unit. The donation included hospital beds, mattresses, bedsheets, patient uniforms, and sandals, all aimed at improving the facility’s ability to care for its patients.

Jinja Referral Hospital, which has been providing critical mental health services since 2010, continues to serve the region, although the number of patients in its mental health unit has decreased by 4.9% over the past year.

The hospital management attributes this reduction to growing mental health awareness. However, the demand for care remains high, with thousands still requiring assistance annually. According to betPawa, the donation is intended to help address this need, with the company emphasizing that “access to quality mental healthcare is a universal right.”

Collaboration for Better Mental Health Services

betPawa’s contribution highlights the importance of collaboration between public and private sectors in supporting healthcare. “As we get ready to observe the World Mental Health Day which takes place on 10th October annually, as a brand, we would like to play our part in mobilising support to the patients in need of these services,” said Ivy Igunduura, betPawa’s Country Marketing Manager.

She also noted that “provision of quality mental healthcare is not just a preserve of the government but requires concerted efforts. This way, as many people as need these services can easily access them.”
