LEON has made a significant move into the African market by securing licences to operate in Tanzania.

LEON Secures Licences to Operate in Tanzania

LEON has successfully entered the African market with the acquisition of two licences from the Tanzania Gaming Board.

The licences allow LEON TANZANIA, the company’s commercial brand in the region, to offer both casino and sports betting services.

This achievement comes after a stringent due diligence process, ensuring compliance with Tanzania’s regulatory standards.

Strategic Expansion into Africa

LEON’s entry into Tanzania forms part of its broader strategy to expand into new and emerging markets across the globe.

Spearheaded by Jérôme J. Dufourg, Regional Director of Operations for Africa, this expansion is seen as a crucial step in the company’s African growth ambitions.

Tanzania, with its population of 68 million—over a third of whom are connected to the internet—was identified as the ideal starting point for LEON’s African operations.

The country’s rapidly expanding digital ecosystem provides fertile ground for the company’s innovative entertainment offerings.

A Strong Market for Digital Entertainment

Tanzania’s business environment presents significant opportunities for LEON’s growth.

The country has attracted substantial foreign investment, benefits from 5G connectivity, and enjoys a stable political climate—key factors that create a robust foundation for LEON’s operations.

Leadership and Vision for African Operations

Jérôme J. Dufourg, LEON’s Regional Director of Operations for Africa, expressed his excitement about leading the company’s entry into this promising market. He stated: “Entering Tanzania is the beginning of a new chapter for LEON in Africa as the company continues to redefine industry benchmarks through its expansion worldwide, delivering innovative digital entertainment solutions to new audiences and propelling our goal to be a market leader and setting industry standards for excellence.”

Dufourg highlighted LEON’s strategic approach and solid operational foundations in Tanzania as key to the company’s expected success in the rapidly growing African digital entertainment sector. With a clear focus on innovation and quality, LEON is well-positioned to make a lasting impact on the continent.
